Book Sale Now at Worthington Park Library

The Friends book sale has expanded to the Worthington Park Library (WPK). With blue and white balloons celebrating the opening, book sales started on August 4. Now book sales will be available at all three library locations.

WPK is located in the Worthington Park Shopping Centre. When the library opened in a small space at the center on April 16, 20008, there wasn’t room for a Friends book sale area. The library was expanded first in December 2013 and again in April 2019.

With those adjustments completed, the libraries’ administration felt the time was right to make this service available to patrons at WPK. “This is a great opportunity to support the Friends Foundation and ensure that patrons have a similar experience across all three library locations,” says Library Manager Jeff Regensburger. “Our patrons now have access to materials that they can buy at a very reasonable price.”

The prices of the books and other materials range from 50 cents to $2. Proceeds from book sales, which go directly to support library programs and staff, account for about 43 percent of the foundation’s annual income. Special sale events are held periodically at the Old Worthington Library.

Jeff previously served as manager at the Northwest Library, so he knew what was involved in setting up a space. Books for sale are weeded from the library’s collection. They include children’s books, picture books, adult fiction and nonfiction and audio books.

“We select books that we believe will be of interest to a variety of people,” Jeff says. “I’m excited about this new service for patrons and our collaboration with the Friends Foundation,” adds Jeff. “It’s a win-win.”
